Did you know what you eat for breakfast sets your hormonal trend for the entire day?
If you don’t know what I mean by this, let me explain..When we have carbs or sugar first thing in the morning. The typical North American breakfast of bagels, cereal, granola, milk, yogurt, ect.. This ends up spiking your Insulin quite a bit first thing in the morning. Then can cause you to crash a few hours later, and need more carbs to keep going. Leaving you riding the blood sugar roller coaster all day as your energy source.
Having adequate amounts of protein (25-30g) and healthy fats first thing, will keep you fuller longer as they are slower digesting foods. Plus, they don’t spike Insulin nearly as much. These foods signal your brain that you are full, they are nutrient dense, and a more sustainable source of energy so you won’t crash or have cravings midday.
Having protein and fats first thing for breakfast also helps to support fat loss, improves Insulin Sensitivity and overall hormonal balance.
If you’re looking to make a change but don’t know where to start. Start with just breakfast and make the changes mentioned above. Be consistent with this for a minimum of two weeks to see change.
