October is BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH. I have been noticing a lot of companies release special ‘pink’ colored versions of their products. In fact, this practice even has a name – PINKWASHING. Now I think it is a great idea to bring bout awareness. There is no change without recognizing that there is an issue.
However, what I find a disturbing lack of is INFORMATION. There isn’t enough being done to educate women (and men) about the causes of cancer and how the risk can be reduced. Most of the resources are put into marathons to support finding a cure. And while I appreciate the passion an emotion behind them, the fact remains that breast cancer incidence rates haven’t changed significantly since 2004. http://ww5.komen.org/BreastCancer/Statistics.html
Here are 3 things you need to know to reduce risk of developing cancers:
-
Sugar feeds cancer – Sugar is the preferred fuel of cancer. Eliminating sugar, in any form including glucose and fructose, will discourage the development of cancer. This also enhances your gut health and immune system, given some other factors are taken care of.
-
The more acidic you are, the higher risk of getting cancer – As mentioned in previous blog entries, eating certain foods (food that are common allergens and those you are sensitive to), mental stress, poor sleep quality, etc make the body very acidic. Solution to this is to make the body alkaline. Some quick solutions to this are:
– Eat organic foods and eliminate processed meats
– Increase organic greens through juicing and green supplements
– Drink 2-3 liters of water minimum daily. You can add lime/apple cider vinegar to it till 5 pm. After which we need some acidity to fight cancer cells.
– Have at least one GREEN day per week. This day you eat only greens or juice them. Your protein source could be plant protein powders or MAP (Master Amino Pattern) instead of animal proteins.

The DIRTY DOZEN chemicals in your skin, hair and eye products can cause cancer – A lot of products nowadays, including some ‘natural’s ones contain chemicals and preservatives that mimic estrogen in the body. Excess estrogens that can’t be detoxified, have been shown to cause cancers, tumors and cysts. This is some basic information that needs to be spread so that we can reduce the INCIDENCE of cancers. Like they say, prevention is better than cure!!
